 How do I go sleep in the apartment?

There is no obvious mechanic for this.

To pass the time, go to the city overview and in the right upper corner you can see the time and fast forward (1 minute or 1 hour).

So you fast forward go back in and auto-sleep happens?

Time skips the moment you fastforward, so to pass time you just go to the city overview, click ">>" until it's the time you like, then return to the scene ingame.
