Maybe you should refrain from having the player to kill Frank... 'cause... that'd be murder, right? So when he fights with Patrick he only knocks him out.. gets him unconscious. Like when the shelf falls on him.. knockout.. not dead ;)

...unless the player manages to tumble that shelf, hitting not only Frank but himself with it, too... *sigh*

Ideas for what to do with Frank:

  • drop the shelf on him...
  • lock him in the room with the safe
  • let him take care of the drunk dancer, after she passed out... someone has to take her home, right? And Frank is an obvious gentleman!
  • let the host of the party throw him out, after he has seen her naked - or put in an option, where you tell him she's hot for him and wants to have his babies, but when he goes to her and asks for sex, she tells him to leave the party (or knocks him out)

And there should be done something more to the drunken / passed-out dancer. 'Cause she's still wearing her panties, right? So... taking off her panties and shooting a nice picture of her fully naked would sure be something that could be usefull sometime later, when she's sober again. *CoughExtortHerForSexCough*

Oh, maybe you can use the command dial as an option to show as a relationship meter by colour coding it? Like, grey when neutral, turning to green when it seems safe to take the next step?

Haha.. thanks for the suggestions. Right now I'm more focused on extending the main storyline with the girls since there's already a way to take care of Frank, but I do want to shy away from the linear nature and have more creative ways to "get rid" of him. :)

I already have a visual feedback system showing your relationship with the characters built into the new version.

Not a bug, but a bit annoying:

If you take out Frank, before you got the naked picture from Katherine she will not react on the "topless not enough, Frank wants nudes now" talk option.
And she doesn't seem interested in any of the alcoholic drinks I carry with me (after getting Frank out of the way and supplying Ashley with some booze).

So maybe you want to put in some checks if the player's avatar already has some of the bottles from the kitchen with him, when he talks with Katherine.


Oh, and I have to say, that a combination of X-Moon's engine (and sex options ^^) with Your story/riddle mode would be quite fantastic. Ever thought about that?

I had a similar issue with stephanie in one of the alpha versions. I had all the liquor and she didn't want any of it. It was because Patrick killed frank so i obtained the alcohol the wrong way (skipped a step) Because you killed frank too soon you kinda did the same thing. So yeah I gotta agree that if the option to take frank out is available before you finish a story that involves him there needs to be a way to have the girl agree anyway. He did say he is working on a save system so maybe there will be several savepoints you can make, Even if it's a checkpoint system you could Revert back to one before you knocked out frank if you find yourself in one of these situations.

The new update i'm working on has a lot of improvements and a lot of adjustments to gameplay to open up a lot more options and different ways to solve puzzles. It's just a matter of me hooking up all the pieces. The engine is getting rather solid, so I've been focusing my efforts on enhancements and storyline, so my time has been going into a lot of the fine details you're talking about.

T0mcat, my vision for this is to borrow some of the elements of X Story Player, but a lot of their advanced physics will take some time to get quite right. I've gotten a lot of mixed reviews (from other forums as well) about the way X Story Player handles some things though also, so I'm trying to take input from all sides of the fence to build a really versatile and robust game.

Don't go to advanced with the physics...
IMHO that's one of the main problems of X SP, as they fancy their physics engine so much, that they forget there are many other important aspects in a (sex) game, too, like the girls characters, voices, communication etc.

But both your game and X SP are in early phases of developement... so just go at it in your own pace and set your own priorities based on your abilities.

Voices are really hard to do in a sex simulator. I actually prefer a dev leaves them out or at least gives you the option to mute the girl. Repetition is the enemy of my boner. Hence why none of my relationships lasted more than 8 years. The same voice/girl gets old. And worse when it's a recording. we've all praised Thrillx for adding a ball gag to 3dsexvilla. IMO they spent much too much time on character customization then gave us a 1/2 assed pose player.

I think XSP is on the track. remember 9.9 is the goal. I really want character customization as well but I know Those missing features are not forgotten or ignored. When building a house, you have to first build a strong frame. This is what they're doing.

I really hope they don't try to give the girls voices. I don't mind it so much in Illusion games because i have no clue what they are actually saying. It all sounds like simlish lol. Also finding the right voice actress's is not an easy task. not to mention the audio files make the game go from 1gb to 10gb if you do it right.


I do agree with your point though. House party is a story driven game, it isn't a physics sandbox. Sure i'd like to be able to grab a boob or lift up a skirt, maybe a superdeepthroat style BJ but i dont expect fluid dynamics or anything crazy. I think more along the lines of HDT mods with realistic ragdolls in skyrim.

I am in complete agreement there. I already have some decent cloth physics and ragdoll stuff going on, and I plan to get more into IK in the coming months to really try to see what's possible and works well for the sex scenes. I have a cool idea for a new scene that I think will work really well. I also have a recording studio and a solid background in audio production, so character voices is a very possible addition down the road, but it will depend on how funded the project gets. And as cool as the Physics are in XSP, I feel it sometimes detracts from the game a bit as you're fumbling around trying to get the controls just right, for minimal return. I think I am leaning toward (based on feedback) the sex scenes being more of a visual thing with minimal user input.

All good input. Yes, it's important to note that I am still strongly focused on building a Framework so I can pump these storylines out much quicker. I am literally building tools inside Unity to create Dialogues and Interactivity on the fly so down the line I can literally set up a scene, and punch in the variables to dial it all in. Of course, some things will still require code, but I'm hoping to get to the point where it becomes so easy to build a game inside my engine, that others could do it with some provided dlls. That will definitely expand on the creative possibilities of the game, and possibly open it up for custom mods down the line. But of course, I'm thinking WAY ahead at the moment.

I fully admit that the engine I'm building hasn't found it's niche quite yet as to where it's going to be as a final project. I am shaping and adapting to user feedback along the way, so I may end up filling multiple niches with one product. I'd love to make the game fully customization for all of the different input I am getting back. Of course, in some cases it's one or the other, but in a lot of cases, both ways of doing things could be accommodated.

Hey guys,

I’ve been getting a lot of great feedback from all of you and I just wanted to talk a little bit about my train of thought as to the direction I’m taking House Party. As a lot of you know, when I started the project, I was much more focused on the engine than anything, and the story-line direction was kind of up in the air. Since then, I’ve been working in suggestions by you guys and just kind of making the story work somehow. A lot of people have been commenting on the replay value and how all of the story-lines kind of mesh together, and the game has felt very linear. All of this is about to change.

Now that the engine is working rather well, I’ve given a lot of thought to the story-lines. What I’ve decided, is to change House Party in a way where you will be able to get to “Endings”. You will essentially, on each game-play be able to focus on doing things in a particular way that enable a particular ending. It won’t be possible to unlock multiple endings in one play-through. At the end of the main game-play, you will be forced into a particular ending based on how you played the game.

The first ending will be actually being able to play the strip game with Rachael, Ashley, and Brittney. This is the first ending I am working on. Once you unlock an ending, you will be able to immediately go into it and play it again via the game menu. Some of you have already have played through and understand how to unlock the card game (though this may change as I start writing other endings), so from this point, you would initiate the game by getting to the point in the main game where Brittney gives you the option to start the strip game, and it will take you out of the main game, and into your strip game “Ending”. I think this is a pretty cool way to do it, and from that point on, you will be able to select the Card Game directly from the House Party Main Menu, and bypass all of the other stuff. It will also be possible to chain endings together, meaning you have to solve one ending to get to the next one. So the card game could evolve into more after all of the girls are naked. Let me know what you guys think.

The other endings I have in mind are:

– Blackmail Katherine Ending
– Make Up With Madison Ending

These two endings listed above are where I’ll be getting into sex scenes (which I know, I know, I haven’t approached yet), but I am saving that stuff for last mostly because I want the payoff to be big when I get to a final version of this game.

I am also open to suggestions on other possible endings.
