The oculus rift looks promising and if it works the way I understand it too, that is move your head and the display scrolls accordingly then that would be surperb. I find these sort of devices cost a great deal of money and you end up getting little use out of them. I have a GeForce GTX 550 Ti graphics card and a LG D2342P Stereoscopic monitor with cost over £300 and can I get any of my games (including XStory) to work in stereoscopic mode - nop. The monitor does have three inputs HDMI, DVI and VGA which allows me to plug more than one computer into it and be able to use both computers as the inputs act like TV channels, you just switch between the channels. I can use it as a 3DTV via the HDMI port. I am not saying I have wasted any money here as unlike the oculus rift which can only be used with programs design to use it, the graphics card is still an exellent graphics card and the monitor has a crystal clear (1920 x 1080) LCD display. I just wish I could use the stereoscopic capablities which why I brought them in the first place. I do not think I will bother with the oculus rift.

@Elfrik
If you have a stereoscopic display you should be able to run XStoryPlayer in it! Put you NVidia card into stereoscopic mode. Put XStoryPlayer into stereoscopic mode as well (in the menu) and put on the glasses.
If you have a stereoscopic 3d Nvidia card, but not a stereoscopic display, a cheap 3d option is using 3d red blue/cyan glasses. The colors are of course transformed but the overall experience is still very good I think. You can work with you existing display, so for 2 dollars for a pair of glasses you are ready.
Good luck!

I understand all that xpadmin. Unfortunely there seems to be a confict bewteen the monitor and the graphics card. The Nvidia card will show 3D in either 1920x1080 @ 24Hz or 1280x720 @ 60Hz, the monitor will only work in 3D mode at 1920x1080 @ 60Hz. AAAARRRRRHHH. I have anaglyphic glasses (red/blue, red/cyan and orange/blue) but I do not used them anymore as they cause a loss in colouration which you do not get with the polaroid glasses - I am a bit spoilt. I have been attempting to created stereoscopic pictures using the Ctrl+X function. That is take a screenshot sidestep slightly and then take a second screenshot. I am only experimenting with this at the moment, I've had 3 good results out of it so far. For anyone who is interested in making stereoscopic picture you can get a free program to do this at http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/.
