I perfectly understand the hesitation to release bits of information and then face the myriad of questions about the missing bits.
There are problems with this approach tho, mainly
- it's gonna be pretty damn time consuming to write a good wiki for all of this
- there will still be a tsunami of questions from new modders about every little detail once the wiki is out
- all those questions will be asked at once
In my opinion, a soft release would be a better idea: Release what you got lying around, clearly mark it "as-is" and "without warranty or support" and people will figure it out. From what I've seen, the conduct in this forum is pretty good (don't know about the PMs xpadmin is getting of course

) so this might work out.
The advantage of a soft release would be that you only need to have a basic structure in the wiki set up and then have users fill in most of the things that can be figured out without further explanations. (In fact, us modders already acquired a lot of knowledge to fill in)
Be aware that many more experienced modders don't need much if any explanation about how things work. They just need examples and a place to exchange their knowledge. It's kinda part of the definition of "Modding" that people figure out stuff themselves, as most games aren't even meant to be modded and certainly don't have a dedicated modding wiki set up for users. To me and many others, figuring it out ourselves is actually the best part about modding.
That said, the decision is entirely xpadmin's, and everybody should honour the work and effort he puts into the game and writing on this forum. And I'm sorry for helping to lift the lid of pandorras box a tiny bit
