How do I even start this game?

I got a Vive today but when I try to start this game through the desktop on SteamVR, the game is minimized as if I Alt-Tabbed out. I hear the sounds of the game, but if I try to click on anything with my Vive, nothing happens. I have no idea how to start this game properly. Do I need to buy Virtual Desktop on Steam? Thanks

From what I understand there is no Vive support, only Oculus.

The developers haven't really made this game VR accessible to begin with, It's really a big killer for a game like this because the market is very small for VR games and if they jump on this quicker then they could cash in easier.
