I'm liking the long periods of stagnant time, It give me plenty of time to make mods/storys and not have another update roll out and break it(which is expected by major updates) I think i'm around 20% done on my current story ETD and would like to be able to finish it before version 4 comes around and makes it unplayable Tho with a new version comes now shiny toys modders can play with

I don't know where the XSP team is on the progress of the 4.0, but I think that you will release your great story before the 4.0.
Unless you get stuck on a huge problem

//My very humble opinion on patreon - START Quote: e are still mulling over whether or not we want to create a Patreon page. The reason we are somewhat hesitant is because this would require regular updates. Like mentioned above we want to spend as much time as possible on the next version 4, and this could make regular updates more difficult. I really feel that a game like this one would get a LOT of attention on patreon. There are several good games being funded via patreon, but most are RPG maker style. A game of the caliber of X Story would just shine among the rest. I just can't believe the amount of money some other devs are receiving monthly for good games sure, but much more simple and less elaborate ones. At first it might take time to get it started and it takes time to maintain. However, after some time the payoff might just be astounding and give you the tools to make quicker development. I'm no expert in game dev, but I'm always amazed to I see how many people are willing to donate for good stuff. //End of my very humble opinion - END

@Hardin
We may go for a Patreon page when the new engine 4.0 is more on the way.
A patreon page would require regular updates, and that is something that the new engine would be better suited for.

@bartux
A lot of research has been done and the development is going steady. Version 4.0 however is still far from finished.
Elements we are aiming for are among others: - Larger environments with multiple parallel story-lines. - Easier character creation - Easier modding and creating new stories.
Because of this it is more work then creating a new story. We will try to do some sub-releases like new cloth and other small extra's in the mean time.
At the moment however it is too early to give an estimate on an release date.

A good way to estimate a good release date is : - estimate your release date - Estimate again, check everything. - Now you're confident with your planning and everything will be ok in time. - Add 50% time (because it's a fact most project are too much delayed ) ! Et voilà !
