Some areas of the game are too damned dark.

I know that I read you commenting that parties are usually dark, but there's some things to consider.
1 The dining room is brightly lit.
2 The kitchen is dark as shit - ain't *nobody* leaves the kitchen lights off at a party - too many people go in and out of it.
3 The dark kitchen makes finding a key item almost impossible.
4 Madisons ending is kinda pointless, since you can barely SEE anything in her bedroom.
5 Ashleys endings are both reasonably well-lit.

On another note: door locks should be on all doors, not just the bathroom. I know that you have the new character interactions where they will shoo other people away, but I'd rather not get knocked over because Patrick drunkenly staggers into my back while I'm blackmailing Madison, for example.

I think the lighting issue is a video card thing. As you can see by skidrow's post, the lighting in the rooms you mention look fine, but I've had others complain about the game being too dark as well. I'm releasing 0.4.2.0 today (will go public in March), and this version should treat you better. I decided to bake all of the lights, and the game looks a lot better at the expense of not so realistic real-time shadows, but awesome looking baked shadows. Overall, there will be more consistent results with the lighting across the board and much better game performance. Here's a side by side comparison:

Interesting thing... I've been playing in fullscreen. Today - I don't know why - I ran the game in windowed mode and the lighting is fine.
The bright rooms aren't any brighter, but the dark rooms are better lit.

I have no idea why that is, but it is. *Shrugs*

Hey guys,

I've just released version 0.4.2.1 of House Party to $15.00+ supporters. I've also changed the pledge rewards around, so you will now be able to get access to the monthly stable release of the game for just $5.00 and the tiers and rewards have been adjusted upwards from there. There are also some custom stories starting to pop up on the radar. It's very exciting to see how many of you have taken an interest in writing your own stories! This update also includes more tools to help you guys write better stories for the game and allow for more customization. You can check out more details about the newest version and the included changes here:

Hey guys,

House Party 0.4.3.0 was just released to $15+ supporters. This update includes a huge update to the Custom Story Creator, mostly in response to the feedback I've been getting from those of your working on stories, and also includes some game content updates in the form of an addition to the "Blackmail Madison" ending. This version is the first of at least two updates I will be putting out to $15+ supporters this month as we gear up toward the monthly stable release on March 15th.

Here's a link to more details:
